Agenda of the Club: The Montfort School Human Rights Club, located in Agartala, is spearheaded by a group of passionate and committed students. Our primary objective is to champion the cause of human rights, both on a global scale and within our local community. Our unwavering belief is in the fundamental rights that every individual inherently possesses, irrespective of their colour, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. It is our staunch conviction that these rights must remain inviolable, without exception or compromise, under any circumstances.
1. Introduction of New Members: The existing club members extended a warm welcome to the newly enrolled Class VIII members, fostering a sense of camaraderie within the club.
2. Prayer for Departed Souls in Manipur: Club members gathered for a solemn prayer session, during which they were briefed about the ongoing situation in Manipur, emphasizing the importance of empathy and global awareness.
3. Introduction to Mr. Sonam Wangchuk: Members had the privilege of being introduced to Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, a distinguished activist and scientist dedicated to the upliftment of local communities in Ladakh and neighbouring regions. This introduction took place through an enlightening video presentation.
4. Exploring LI-FI Technology: Club members delved into the fascinating realm of LI-FI technology, broadening their horizons with knowledge about this innovative communication technology.
5. Prayer for Departed Souls in Kumarghat: In a compassionate gesture, the club organized a prayer session to honor the souls lost in the tragic Rath Yatra incident in Kumarghat, Tripura, underscoring the club’s commitment to humanitarian values.
6. Individual Presentations: Each club member had the opportunity to share insights into how they are actively raising awareness about fundamental human rights among their neighbors, promoting a culture of education and advocacy.
7. Enhancing Communication SkillsStudents dedicated time to develop effective communication techniques, particularly in interactions with underage children engaged in laborious work, thereby empowering them to express their rights and needs.
8. Understanding Drug Abuse: Members engaged in a comprehensive exploration of the perils of drug abuse, equipping themselves with the knowledge needed to support individuals grappling with addiction and contributing to a healthier community.
9. Grasping the New Education Policy (NEP): The club members familiarized themselves with the New Education Policy and engaged in insightful discussions about its potential impact on the education system. They also shared their perspectives on the changes that NEP could bring about.
10. Exploring the Uniform Civil Code (UCC): Club members delved into the concept of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), comprehending how it would apply to all religious communities in matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption. This knowledge fosters a broader understanding of legal and societal dynamics.
Students delved into the concerning events that unfolded in Manipur, expressing their genuine concern for the safety of women in society. They engaged in thought-provoking discussions on why the Government of India might not be taking sufficient measures to address the communal issues in Manipur.
11. Deepening Awareness of Drug Abuse: Through informative sessions, students acquired a deeper understanding of various illegal drugs and their detrimental effects on youth in society, reinforcing their commitment to combatting substance abuse.
12. Understanding the Concept of Society: The club’s members engaged in diverse activities that facilitated a comprehensive understanding of how societies function, promoting a sense of social responsibility and awareness among the students.
13. Club magazine: Different works related to preparing club magazine is disturbed.
These meeting highlights reflect the club’s dedication to promoting human rights, fostering community engagement, and expanding the knowledge and empathy of its members on a wide range of vital issues.
1. Safeguarding Adolescents and Young People: Club members will acquire strategies and knowledge aimed at safeguarding vulnerable adolescents and young individuals, reinforcing the importance of their well-being.
2. Combating Drug Abuse in Tripura: Members will delve into the prevailing issue of drug abuse within Tripura, examining effective strategies and initiatives to combat this critical problem in the region
3. General Assembly on Human Rights: The club is gearing up to organize a comprehensive school-wide general assembly, with the goal of disseminating knowledge and raising awareness among all students about the fundamental principles of human rights.
4. Publication of the Club Magazine: Club members are diligently working on the creation of a club magazine, scheduled for publication during the School Annual Day 2023 program. This magazine will serve as a platform to showcase the club’s endeavours and insights on various human rights and social issues.
